Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic forced universities worldwide to shift to emergency remote teaching (ERT), raising concerns about student engagement and expectations. This study presents a cross-faculty case study at a Sino-British university, analyzing student perceptions of ERT and their engagement levels. Findings suggest that while students appreciated the flexibility of online learning, they encountered significant challenges in interaction, motivation, and access to resources. The study offers recommendations for improving online teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
